About

Why I Became a Therapist

I grew up in New York during the AIDS crisis - a time when it was dangerous to come out as or be gay. I did not have the support of family or friends and school was a nightmare. I never felt like I fit in or that I was "normal." I struggled with my identity for years. I experienced depression, anxiety, and I felt desperately lonely and unfulfilled. I eventually sought treatment and worked with an incredible therapist who taught me how to accept and love myself. She taught me that life was more than just survival. She showed me that I could live, thrive, and be happy. I was so inspired by her and this journey that I became a practitioner to fulfill my lifelong dream of helping others find strength, healing, joy, and peace. Our stories may be different but feelings are universal. Whatever your story is, you can share it with me and we can help you move forward, together. If you want to learn more about how I can help, please send me a message. My Clients I offer a safe, healing space for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, identity issues, people living with chronic illness, and those recovering from trauma and/or neglect (emotional, physical, sexual, and psychological). I am skilled at working with a variety of populations and have a deep appreciation for those with ethnic and culturally diverse backgrounds. My Approach I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach in a dynamic therapy style that utilizes a variety of theories and models to tailor individualized treatment. Modalities include CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, MI, Gestalt, Psychoeducation, and Skill Building. My Values I am kind and empathetic. I value human dignity and work hard to help my clients realize their worth. I am non-judgmental. I listen. I guide toward solutions. Congratulations on taking this step toward healing and growth. I look forward to hearing from you. ~Griffin~ ā€œI have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.ā€ ~Albert Einstein
